Special Photography Tuition courses 2012.

The Elan Valley – my favourite place in the whole of Wales – a mountainous area of reservoirs, dams, waterfalls and stunning scenery.

Very early October morning, Pen y Garreg Dam, Elan Valley. Nikon D7000 with 16-85mm at 62mm. ISO 400, 1/90th second f8. Exposure -1/2 stop.

See the tower in the photos above and below – imagine what it would be like to walk inside the dam and come out on that tower, perched right on the edge of the dam!

Well on just 3 days later this year we are able to visit the tower.

Dates:  31st July, 24th August and 1st November.

In the background: Pen y Garreg Dam and tower. Nikon D7000 with 16-85mm at 58mm. ISO 200, 1/250sec f8. Exposure -1/2 stop.

Close-up of the tower. Nikon D7000 with 16-85mm at 50mm. ISO 400, 1/90 second f6.7.

Other special Elan Valley dates for 2012 are:

19th August. Wild Welsh Mountain Ponies.

Specially gathered in just for this one day in what is probably the most remote farm in all of Wales!

The visit to the farm includes a traditional Welsh tea. Don’t miss out on this truly unique event.

Elan Valley. Nikon D7000 with 16-85mm at 55mm. ISO 400, 1/350sec f11.

28th October. Hawksdrift Falconry.

Made famous by it’s founder, Layla, on BBC’s Dragons Den.

This is a display of falconry where audience participation is encouraged. It’s a great chance to get up close to a variety of birds of prey and photograph them in action.

Part of Garreg-ddu Reservoir, Elan Valley. Nikon D7000 with 16-85mm at 62mm. ISO200, 1/250sec f8. Exposure -1/2 stop.

These special one day courses are suitable for photographers of all abilities, from beginners to aspiring professionals.

Apart from visiting the particular attractions we shall take in as much of the Elan Valley scenery as we possibly can.

Waterfall, Elan Valley. Nikon D80 with 16-85mm at 31mm. ISO 100, 1.1 secs at f22. Exposure + 1 stop. Neutral density filters.

For these special trips the usual day rates will apply but it’s more than likely that the days will overrun, ending approximately 5-00pm.

Caban-coch Dam, Elan Valley, November. Nikon D80 with 16-85mm at16mm. ISO 200, 1/350sec f8.

Remember these courses are 1:1 or for a maximum of 3 if you want to bring your family or friends, so get booking!                          Tel: 01497 847183
