Contact Will Lewis:

The few times I’ve used this lens the results have been amazing.

Nikon D7000 at ISO 200 with Nikon 300mm f2.8G ED VR II AF-S at f4. 1/4000 second. Monopod. VR off. Uncropped.

Cropped version of the previous photo.

These two photos (JPEG’s) above are straight from the camera – no sharpening or any other changes at all – apart from the cropping in the second photo.

Nikon D7000 at ISO 280 with Nikon 300mm f2.8G ED VR II AF-S at f4. 1/1500 second. VR off. Monopod. Uncropped.

Cropped version of previous photo.

These JPEG images are unsharpened and unedited apart from the cropping in the second photo.

The VR wasn’t intentionally switched off – I just forgot!

Reason for sale: I love tracking wild animals and birds but this lens is a bit heavy for that so I’m going to buy a Nikon 300mm f4. (When are they going to bring out a 300mm f4 VR?). It won’t have quite the same quality or the ultra fast focusing but it will be easier to carry on an all day trek across country.

This is a truly great lens – some experts reckon it’s Nikon’s best – and even though I’ve only had it for a short while I have no regrets – it’s something I just had to try out.
