Photography courses in Wales in winter.

This time last year Wales was white with snow – it looked stunning!

I can’t promise snow but Photography Tuition (www.photographytuition.co.uk) at this time of year can be very rewarding particularly as we’ll have the advantage of experiencing both dawn and dusk light – usually the best times of day for photography.

Nikon D80 with 16-85mm lens at 25mm. ISO 200, 1/350 sec f11. Exposure +1 stop.

Nikon D80 with16-85mm lens at 22mm. ISO 200, 1/90 sec f8. Exposure +1/2 stop.

Nikon D80 with 16-85mm lens at 48mm. ISO 200 1/180 sec f8. Exposure +1/2 stop.

All 3 of todays picture were taken in the Brecon Beacons last winter.

A polariser was probably used on the first two to darken the sky to get that deep blue colour.

Note that all the photos have had the exposure increased. Cameras tend to darken bright scenes like snow, beaches and white buildings so compensation by adding light is needed. A scene full of bright snow could need as much as two stops increase in exposure. Without this adjustment the snow will look grey.

You can book a Photography Tuition session any day of the week, any month of the year. Free use of Nikon cameras and lenses!
