The Giottos 3260B is a straight forward, great value monopod.

Giottos GTMML 3260B Monopod. Taken with a Nikon D7000 with 16-85mm lens at 38mm. ISO 200 1/180 second f8. Exposure + .5 stop.
Specification:
Minimum height – 51cm
Maximum height – 160cm – more than enough for me – I’m 5’11″.
Weight – 0.5 kg.
Weight capacity – 12 kg – that’s a lot of camera gear!
4 leg sections.
Quick action lever leg locks.
1/4″ and 3/8″ head fittings.
Foam grip.
Hand strap.
Price, February 2012, £36 Amazon.

Quick action lever leg locks. Nikon D7000 with 16-85mm lens at 85mm. ISO 1100. 1/10 second, hand held (not recommended!), f5.6. Exposure + .5 stop.
There is a similar Manfrotto Monopod, the 679B. However it’s heavier, the maximum load and height is less, the folded size is longer and it costs more!
Verdict.
Brilliant. It looks and feels right – the foam grip is particularly good – warm to the touch and reassuringly ‘grippy’.
The leg sections operate smoothly and quickly.
I’m not an equipment freak. I just want good quality at a good price and the Giottos 3260B Monopod is just that.
